Our approach

A clear response starts here.

01

Confirm the procedural position

Check publication, extensions, filed pleadings, and the deadlines that apply to your matter.

02

Evaluate rights and evidence

Compare the marks, goods or services, priority, and the records needed to support your position.

03

Choose the next phase

Discuss a response, challenge, or negotiated resolution, with a defined scope and investment.

The decision in front of you

A published application can change your plans.

An opposition can affect a launch, a growing product line, or the name your customers know. We connect the legal questions to the business decision in front of you, whether you are protecting existing rights or defending your application.

Oppose a conflicting application

Review the published mark, your rights, potential grounds, and the deadline for taking action.

Defend your application

Understand the claims against you, evaluate your evidence, and plan the response.

Resolve the conflict thoughtfully

Evaluate negotiated terms alongside the value, risks, and practical demands of continuing the proceeding.

Questions you may be asking.

How is opposition different from cancellation?

Opposition challenges a pending application before registration. Cancellation challenges an existing registration. Both are handled by the TTAB.

Is an extension the same as an opposition?

No. An extension request seeks more time to decide whether to oppose. An opposition formally challenges registration. Confirm the applicable deadline before deciding how to proceed.

Does an opposition mean I must change my name?

An opposition challenges registration. It does not itself order a name change. We evaluate registration risks, any broader use dispute, and possible resolution terms together.

What should I send for review?
